A Process I’m Implementing: Celebrating wins & manifesting leads
I absolutely love the high of a signed offer!
…all that tension and anticipation melting away into calm and pride.
Happy sigh. 😅
And then I get ecstatic all over again when the new hire actually starts.
It’s another moment of celebration (and relief)! 🕺🏻
The “butt in seat” day is the day when I:
Invoice my clients for the final fee. 💰
Congratulate the candidate on their first day. 🤝🏻
Set up a coffee or call with the candidate for a few weeks out. 📅
It’s a simple process, and I’d be excited to learn - what do you do in this phase?
One thing that I haven’t done well yet: celebrate my hiring successes on LinkedIn.
It’s the “home sold” on the front lawn for our industry. 🏡
It’s free, valuable marketing to my network.
And I’ve been meaning to set up a repeatable process for myself for a while now.
So this past week I finally took the leap.
And I’m here to share my process and learning.
Here’s what I did:
I identified strong examples from others’ work (imitation is flattery, right?!)
I crafted my own process
I contracted a designer to create a few designs
I set up an easily repeatable process (efficiency is key!)
Identifying strong examples
I looked through my LinkedIn connections and found two strong examples:
Neil Wittensleger does a really good job:
What he does well:
He has a standard template for the copy and image of the post.
He provides some high level outcomes of the search, including timeline.
What’s unique about his process:
He doesn’t identify the client or candidate. At first I found this confusing but it grew on me.
His post is mostly about gaining exposure (his picture, company logo, etc.)
The image he uses has some moving elements which catch my attention on LinkedIn’s feed.
Caitlin Maloof does a great job of these celebrations too:
What she does well:
She writes with high energy and she’s complimentary of her candidates.
She includes a nice comment about working with her client.
What’s unique about her process:
She posts the initial announcement on her company page and then re-posts on her personal one.
She mentions the candidate, client AND the PE (private equity) firm she worked with.
Creating my process
Personally I lean more towards Neil’s style and here’s why:
Leaving out the client and candidate means I don’t need to get their approval.
Call me old-school, but I prefer not to disclose my client - my competitors might be paying attention.
By using a description of my ICP (Series A consumer Start-up), it communicates more about the type of clients I work with (calls out my prospect) vs. mentioning the client.
Here’s the framework I created for my template:
🥳 ROLE NAME 🥳
▪ 𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁: Type of client (call out ICP)
▪ 𝗡𝗲𝗲𝗱: What were they looking for?
▪ 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀: Describe the interview or search process
▪ 𝗧𝗶𝗺𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲: The search timeline or first interview to offer timeline
▪ 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿: TBD - I’m not sure if I always want to release the salary
A [type company] I recently worked with successfully secured a [role] to [what they will be doing/leading]. The candidate brought [something unique about the candidate’s qualifications].
What made this partnership successful: Highlight something about this engagement where I added value and/or that worked well for the client.
Creating my template
Next, I wanted to create an on-brand image template I can use for every post.
But I’m not a designer. (Surprised?! Ha!) 👨🏻🎨
So instead I used my favorite tool: Fiverr.com
Why Fiverr?
I find it’s easy to use and there are inexpensive contractors that do great work for this type of task. 🧑🏻💻
I found this designer and commissioned him to design 5 unique designs for this purpose.
He quoted me $35 and a 3-day turnaround, which sounded fair to me so I accepted and paid.
3 days later I received the following:
I was SUPER HAPPY. 😀
And if I wanted to make changes, he was open to making a round of edits.
But I have enough (I only need one).
Finalizing my template
As the last step, I uploaded my favorite two templates to Canva and created mock-ups using a recent close as an example:
And this is the one I like best 🥇
The final post will look like this:

OK, I’m officially ready to celebrate my wins!
And between us: I’m going to sprinkle in my 2024 closes into my feed in the next few months - our little secret, right?!? 😉
Preparing For A Conference: Rock The Year Recruiting Summit
As I mentioned last week, the Rock The Year Recruiting Growth Summit is starting this Monday, March 10.
It’s a fantastic, FREE and virtual recruiting conference hosted by Benjamin Mena.
In thinking through how to get the most out of this FREE recruiting conference, I wanted to share my pre-conference check-list:
📅 I pre-registered and added the relevant calendar invites to my calendar. My time is now blocked! ✔️
👋 I sent LinkedIn connections to some of the speakers and said hi. (Why? Because they will be flooded with connection requests next week so connecting early will give me first priority to follow-up with them).
☎️ I pinged a few recruiter friends (and you!) to join the conference with me. (Yes, it’s a virtual conference but it’s always nice to be learning alongside your friends and share notes on what you learned).
If you can’t attend the sessions live, you can pre-buy the recordings for $99 now (they will go up to $149 after the conference).
If you’ll be there live, say hi “in the chat”! 👋🏻
P.S. - You might be asking: What’s the benefit of attending live?
Folks will be engaging live in the chat and it’s a great opportunity to make new connections and collaboration partners (the live chat isn’t captured in the recording).
A Free Workshop: Build a candidate nurture campaign in < 1 hour
I’m excited to collaborate with my good friend Julian D’Angelo, CEO of Talin.ai, to bring you a FREE workshop:
👉🏻 Creating a nurture campaign to expand your network of top candidates 👈🏻
March 20 @ 12pm ET / 9am PT
What’s a nurture campaign? It’s a way to engage with top candidates in your industry/niche with an outreach message NOT about a job - but rather with the goal of creating a long term relationship.
The magic of this workshop: You’ll have the opportunity to build this nurture sequence directly alongside Julian and I. You’ll walk away with this new outbound campaign in < 1 hour.
We’ll be using LinkedIn Sales Navigator & Talin.ai. If you don’t use these tools, you can try both of them on a free trial basis (or feel free to use your own tools instead).
I’ll have a registration link coming next week. But in the meantime, mark your calendars for March 20 @ 12pm ET / 9am PT.
That’s a wrap! 😎
Your feedback is incredibly valuable!
And I only have ONE question:
See you next week!
-Tal
